Case: Domaine Karanika

In June 2022 Laurens Hartman from Domaine Karanika from the Amendeo wine region in the North of Greece, comes to the Netherlands for 2 presentations for sommeliers and the press. His sparkling wines are served at many Michelin Star restaurants and are seen as the best sparkling wines from Greece.

About Domaine Karanika:
In 2006 Laurens Hartman and Annette van Kampen started Domaine Karanika. Because of the fact that Laurens has a Dutch father and a Greek mother, the couple chose to settle in Greece. In the region Amendeo (North of Greece) they started with a vineyard of 1 ha with ungrafed grapes from xinomavro of 50 to 100 years old. They are currently working in a biodynamic way and make the most beautiful sparkling wine from Greece.

Their sparkling wine is in the “50 Great Greek Wine” List of Yiannis Karakasis MW and Robert Parker who gave their wines 90 points, Jancis Robinson gives 17 points (on a scale of 20 points).

Result
Melman Communications organised two presentations with lunch and got the crème de la crème from Dutch sommeliers and press to attend. During and after the event, sommeliers and press posted enthusiastically on social media. Afterwards Melman Communications found a new importer for Domaine Karanika, De Champagnist from Amersfoort. Since the 2 events in Holland, sales in the Netherlands have doubled.
